Celebrating 20 years of creative evolution, Nontle Jewelry’s journey began on the campus of Kentucky State University in 2004. Founder Danielle-Nicole was searching for a statement piece to complement her Spring Formal dress, but after hours of scouring stores across town, she found nothing that matched her unique style. Then, she spotted a necklace with a beautiful design but in the wrong color scheme—and an idea sparked. She thought, “Why not make it myself?”
With determination, she visited a craft store, picked up the tools and materials she’d need, and, ignoring suggestions for formal training, decided to rely on her own creativity. She spent days perfecting her first handmade piece, which she wore proudly to the Spring Formal, receiving enthusiastic compliments and feeling the first stirrings of what would become Nontle Jewelry. She named the brand “Nontle,” inspired by her daughter, meaning “Mother of Beauty” in Xhosa.
Over the next few years, Danielle-Nicole continued to hone her craft, creating pieces for family and friends before finally bringing Nontle Jewelry to the public through pop-up shops in 2008. Her unique, bold designs quickly found a loyal following, as people were drawn to the authenticity and artistry in every piece. Nontle Jewelry has since been featured in magazines, gallerys and fashion run ways, in fact in 2010 she was the one of the 1st jewelry designers to have her own "walk" in Fashion Week Columbus!
Now, two decades later, Nontle Jewelry is celebrated as a brand that stands for originality, storytelling, and one-of-a-kind craftsmanship. Each piece reflects Danielle-Nicole’s dedication to beauty and individuality, capturing the spirit of those who wear it and honoring a legacy of bold self-expression.
